Pick-Up & Delivery Dates
When will my goods be picked-up and delivered?
When dealing with your moving company, do not take for granted that the dates that you agree upon, with either the estimator or the dispatcher, are going to be the actual pick-up and delivery dates. If the mover promises you pick-up and delivery dates, be sure that they are written on both the order for service and the bill of lading. If the mover cannot guarantee specific dates, they are required by law to transport your goods with reasonable dispatch. Reasonable dispatch means pick-up and delivery spans that are both reasonable and acceptable to all parties involved. Again, make certain that these dates are written on both the order for service and the bill of lading; Make sure you have copies of both.
What happens if my goods are delivered beyond the delivery dates?
If the moving company does not deliver your shipment by the agreed upon dates, the mover must notify you by telephone, certified mail, or in-person, at the movers expense, of the delay and when the delivery will be made. You are entitled to compensation when your shipment is delivered after the agreed upon dates. Check with your mover to find out the maximum amount that you are entitled to each day your shipment is late. Keep records of all expenses you incur for all days beyond the agreed upon dates. Note: You are not entitled to compensation due to acts of G-D. |
